Commission a nude or traditional portrait

After a long, successful career in the visual arts as a graphic designer, illustrator and
lecturer I have decided to make more time for my
portraiture and
figurative art.
Since I was at college in the early 1980s I have attended, or run, regular life drawing sessions. I began painting portraits in oils in 2016 and am constantly developing my style and looking for new ways of seeing.
I was delighted to have one of the portraits painted during lockdown accepted for the Royal Society of Portrait Painters annual exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London.
I am an elected Associate Member of the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art (ARCA).
I am open to conventional or nude portrait commissions to suit any budget. I can work via Zoom, from photographs or in person.
You can book a sitting by contacting me
here.
Nude portraits

I have been making figurative art for over 40 years with most of my work involved with life drawing.
I am now taking commissions for nude portraits. These can be done from life, online via Zoom or from supplied photographs.
From an hour session you get three drawings and two paintings. Many of my sitters report a boost to their body confidence from the experience.
Full discretion is assured with no copies being kept unless specifically authorised by the sitter (as with all the images shown here).
Pose for me
If you've ever felt the urge to pose nude yourself, or to have your partner drawn, here's your chance. I am taking commissions either online, from photographs or in person* where possible.
Contact me to arrange a one hour session where I will make up to five drawings of you in poses of your choice. This comprises some warm up sketches of five to ten minutes, followed by a longer twenty five minute painting. I then post the resulting unframed drawings to you.
The cost (online or from photographs) is £150.00 + P&P.
*Please contact me for in person costs which are based on a full day rate plus travel - a half day rate may be possible depending on your location.
Discretion assured at all times.

Traditional Portraits

I have been painting portraits for the past ten years. Sittings take between two and four hours, and up to a couple of weeks to complete the painting. The portrait is developed from my meeting with the sitter and is composed depending on how I feel it would be best to describe them.
The portraits are painted in oils on a range of substrate including canvas, linen or wood. They are usually supplied unframed but edged in a gilt foil. Framing is available as an option.
I am now taking sittings in the studio or on location, as well as continuing with online sittings via Zoom.
Sit for me
If you've ever considered having your portrait painted, or to have a loved one commemorated, I am taking in person sittings or online commissions via Zoom. Contact me to arrange a session where I will make sketches and take photographs/screenshots while we talk. I will then paint an original portrait on stretched wrapped-edge canvas using the source material. The service is available for Europe, the USA, Canada and Australia.

Testimonial
"I have know Simon for many years. I have never been drawn before nor commissioned a 'portrait' from a figurative artist. When Simon offered this service when lockdown happened I thought it would be fun to 'push one's boundaries a bit'. Simon is an accomplished artist and I am very pleased with the framed result which is now hanging on my office wall. The 'Zoom sitting' was fun and went quite quickly. I would happily recommend Simon to anyone contemplating having a contemporary portrait undertaken"
